Being at the forefront of climate change and prone to natural disasters such as Storm Erika in 2015 and Hurricane Maria in 2017, Dominica pledged to become the world’s first climate-resilient nation. Over the past two years, the Nature Isle of the Caribbean established an emerging ecotourism sector, focused on sustainability, nature immersion and climate resilience.

As a result, before the outbreak, Dominica was declared one of the top 20 tourism destinations of the future, according to a study by FDI Intelligence – a service from the Financial Times. Now, the hospitality industry on the island is in a particularly difficult position, after global travel came to a complete halt.

All proceeds will go towards financially supporting the urgent short-term cashflow needs of those whose activities and livelihoods have been affected by the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The government of the Commonwealth of Dominica calls on the goodwill of all who wish to help Dominican families, SMEs and those whose jobs were affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
